The legendary rum
Located on the island of La Réunion, in the middle of the Indian Ocean above Madagascar since 1886, the Rivière du Mât distillery takes its name from an old legend. According to tradition, a ship exploring the island was wrecked in a riverbed, with only the mast remaining visible for many years. In time, the stream came to be called Rivière du Mât: “the river of the mast”.
A typical product of La Réunion is ‘Rhum Arrangé’: a perfect mix of traditional rum, tropical fruits and spices. It is made by preparing a mix of fruits and spices for several months to years. Sugar is also added to bring out the flavours and obtain a soft aftertaste. Rivière du Mât honours the tradition of the island of La Réunion with 5 different ‘Rhum Arrangé’ flavours: Caramelised Pineapple, Tropical Vanilla, Toasted Coconut and Banana & Vanilla & Ginger.
